What is a bonus share in Nepal?

Bonus shares are additional free shares given to existing shareholders from the company's retained earnings or share premium. They don't cost money but the market price adjusts proportionally downward.

How is adjusted price calculated after bonus?

Adjusted Price = (Market Price × Old Shares) ÷ (Old Shares + Bonus Shares). For example, if price is Rs 500 and 20% bonus is announced: Rs 500 ÷ 1.20 = Rs 416.67.

What is TERP for rights share?

TERP (Theoretical Ex-Rights Price) is the expected share price after a rights issue. Formula: (Market Price × Old Shares + Issue Price × Rights Shares) ÷ Total Shares.

Is there tax on bonus shares in Nepal?

Yes. A 5% capital gains tax is levied on the face value (Rs. 100) of each bonus share received. So for 10 bonus shares, you pay 5% × Rs. 100 × 10 = Rs. 50 tax.

What is dividend yield?

Dividend yield = (Dividend per Share ÷ Market Price) × 100. In Nepal, cash dividend is declared as % of face value (Rs. 100). A 5% TDS is withheld from cash dividends.
