How is broker commission calculated in NEPSE?

SEBON has set tiered commission rates: 0.36% for amounts up to Rs 50,000, 0.33% for Rs 50,001-5,00,000, 0.31% for Rs 5,00,001-20,00,000, 0.27% for Rs 20,00,001-1,00,00,000, and 0.24% for amounts above Rs 1 crore. The minimum commission is Rs 10 per transaction.

SEBON (Securities Board of Nepal) charges a regulatory fee of 0.015% on every buy and sell transaction in NEPSE. This fee is separate from the broker commission.

DP (Depository Participant) charge is a flat fee of Rs 25 charged per transaction for maintaining and transferring shares electronically through CDS (Central Depository System).

How much capital gains tax do I pay on NEPSE profits?

Individual investors pay 5% CGT on profits from shares held more than 365 days, and 7.5% on shares held 365 days or less. Institutional investors pay 10% regardless of holding period. CGT is only applied when you make a profit.

What is the break-even price?

The break-even price is the minimum selling price at which you neither make a profit nor a loss, after accounting for all charges (broker commission, SEBON fee, DP charge) and capital gains tax on both buy and sell sides.
