What Gets Validated
- Format check — verifies the 15-character alphanumeric pattern (2-digit state + 10-char PAN + entity + Z + checksum)
- State decode — maps the first 2 digits to all 37 Indian states and union territories
- PAN extraction — shows the 10-character PAN embedded in characters 3–12
- Entity number — identifies which GST registration this is under the same PAN and state
- Checksum verification — implements the official mod-36 Luhn-style algorithm used by the GST authority
