How do I export a WhatsApp chat?

Open the chat in WhatsApp → Tap the three-dot menu (top right) → More → Export Chat → Without Media → Save or share the .txt file.

Which export formats are supported?

The tool supports both iOS format ([DD/MM/YY, HH:MM:SS] Name: message) and Android format (DD/MM/YYYY, HH:MM - Name: message), including newer WhatsApp formats.

Is there a file size limit?

The tool can handle large chats with tens of thousands of messages. Very large files (50MB+) may take a few seconds to parse but should work fine on modern browsers.

What does the Activity Heatmap show?

The heatmap shows message volume by day of week (rows) and hour of day (columns), revealing when conversations are most active.

What are 'media' messages?

WhatsApp marks shared images, videos, audio, documents, and stickers as ' ' or similar in the export. The tool counts these separately.

Can this tool analyze group chats?

Yes. Group chats with multiple participants are fully supported. The Top Senders section will display stats for all participants.

What is the 'Longest Streak' metric?

The longest streak shows the maximum number of consecutive days on which at least one message was exchanged in the chat.

Can I download or save the analysis results?

The analysis is displayed on screen. You can use your browser's print function (Ctrl+P) to save or print the results. A download option may be added in future.

Why are some messages not being parsed?

WhatsApp export formats vary slightly by region and app version. System messages like 'X joined using this link' are filtered out automatically.
