What image formats are supported?

PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, and GIF files are all supported. The image should clearly show the QR code for best results.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. All QR code decoding happens entirely in your browser using the jsQR library. Your image never leaves your device.

Why does it say "No QR code found in image"?

This can happen if the QR code is too small, blurry, partially obscured, or at a steep angle. Try a clearer, higher-resolution image.

Can it decode WiFi QR codes?

Yes. WiFi QR codes (WIFI:S:...;T:...;P:...;;) are automatically detected and the SSID, encryption type, and password are displayed clearly.

Can it decode multiple QR codes in one image?

Currently the tool decodes the first QR code found in the image. For images with multiple QR codes, only one result is shown.

What types of data can a QR code contain?

QR codes can store URLs, plain text, WiFi credentials, contact cards (vCard), email addresses, phone numbers, SMS, and more.

Does this work on mobile?

Yes. You can upload images from your phone gallery. On mobile browsers you can also capture a photo directly using the camera.

Why is the decoded URL showing as plain text instead of a link?

If the URL does not start with http:// or https://, it is shown as plain text. All valid HTTP/HTTPS URLs are rendered as clickable links.

Can I scan QR codes from screenshots?

Yes. Screenshots are among the best sources — they are typically sharp, well-lit, and have no distortion, making them easy to decode.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no hard limit enforced by the tool, but very large images may take a moment to process. Images under 10 MB work best.
